lets plan...

When I first started school I had no idea what major to declare (like many other students), I figured out along the way I thoroughly enjoy Event Management.  In the Summer of 2009 I was hired as a special events coordinator for Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.  I couldn't believe on how much stuff I had accomplished within 1 year.  Needless to say I fell in love with the job I had, and couldn't wait to make it a full time career.
As an overview for goals and responsibilities in this career I have created a list of what is intended for me in the field:
  • Relationship-building with key stakeholders
  • Pre-event and on site communicationn with delegates
  • Represent and deliver service excellence that is in keeping with the organizations brand
  • Work closely with internal and external event planning committeess and client groups to define event goals, objectives and specific implementation plans that mromote the organizations brand
  • Work closely with programs managers, commitiees and communications staff to effectivly promote the event
Along with my job came many responisbilites and sleepless nights, but getting the final project was the greatest success I have ever felt.  As JDCH we planned and coordinatied the Tour de Broward, an event that rasies money for Floridas first free-standing childrens hospital.  The Tour de Broward offers walkers, runners, cyclists and spinning enthusiasts a chance to enjoy beautiful South Florida weather while helping to ensure world-class healthcare is available for families and children for generations to come. The Tour de Broward has four kinds of events for people with different fitness levels, so everyone can participate.  Working with Joe DiMaggio I have the skills to knowing and understanding the ways of event management and how to produce a signifigant outcome to the community.  I plan on taking all that I know from my team at Joe DiMaggio and use it to my full potential wherever needed.  Jerilyn Grimm and Danielle Bogun have given me the expierences that I will cherish the rest of my life.  Thanks to them and all that is possible with the Tour de Broward we can make a difference in the community of south Florida.  I look up to these women and all they have accomplished, and for this reason I want to become an event manager.

I would love to invite anyone who would like to take place in the Tour de Broward event to please contact my team at http://www.tourdebroward.com/; here you can register yourself for many of our activites as well as create your own team in support of Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
